1 Following stakeholder nomination, USPTO designates as informative an appeal decision addressing Markush groupings
In this decision, the Board reversed an Examiner’s rejection of claims for reciting improper Markush groupings. The decision holds that a Markush grouping is proper if it recites members of a subgenus and the specification describes those recited members as performing similar functions in the context of the invention.

The updated Trademark Examination Guidelines and Examination Manual apply to trademark examinations conducted on or after April 2026. 4 Russian Trademark Filing Form to Include Use Confirmation and Risk Disclosure
MOSCOW - The Government of Russia has finalized a new requirement for trademark and service mark filings. Effective August 18, 2026, the application form for filing marks will include a clause in which the applicant must confirm their intention to use the designation for all designated goods and services.
In accordance with the Order of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation of May 13, 2026, No. 386, issued on August 7, 2026, applicants are now required to certify their intent to use the claimed designation as a trademark or service mark for all goods and/or services listed in the State Register of Trademarks and Service Marks of the Russian Federation…

6 Putting the 2020 Copyright Law into Practice: China Consults on Draft Implementing Regulations
On July 13, 2026, the National Copyright Administration of China (NCAC) released a draft revision of the Regulations on the Implementation of the Copyright Law (the "Implementing Regulations") for public comment through August 12, expanding the current 38 articles to 49.
China's Copyright Law underwent its third amendment in 2020 and took effect in June 2021, introducing substantial changes to the rights framework.
